Love is not a race, it is something that takes years to form and recognize. We hear so many stories of different couples wondering how our story will pan out. Will the man sweep us of our feet with romance or will the woman be strong headed and grounded to sustain the relationship? While that remains a mystery, lets start by thinking about the main components of a love story.
As a start here is the story of 2 couples, the one thing they have evidently in common is love, but how are they different?
The story of how they met
Couple 1:Their families have known each other since forever, however they formally met at an opera night. The first time he saw her, he knew she was the one for him. She wasn't so sure as she had met tonnes of rich, handsome men in her days. Every single one of them promised her love, and the moment things got real they left her. She saw him no differently, but she wasn't ready to give up on love altogether.
Couple 2:
He saw her for the first time before leaving for his construction job. Construction being a male dominated work, you hardly got to see beautiful women. Maybe it was the lack of women in his life, or maybe it was her, but he couldn't take his eyes off her. She was a hairdresser at the local salon and the passion for her job could be seen in her warm smile, focused gaze and tired legs. He never had to tell her how he feels, he knew he would pass by and look at her everyday to work, that was enough!
They knew they were in love
Couple 1:
It has been two years of parties, operas, business partners, roman holidays, french romance and late night walks, they were still strong. Every time she thought he would give up on her, he came through. Whether it was the 6 months that the were away, or their families not getting along, he showed her everyday he wanted to be with her. They had a tradition, he would kiss her goodnight no matter how their day went. There was no particular day she fell in love with him, but everyday he gave her a reason to believe that this could be love. He closed down Tiffany's so she could have the engagement ring of her dreams. It was surreal, she had met her match.
Couple 2:
After 2 years he finally gathered the courage to talk to her. He went into the salon with his sister. Despite trying his best to hide how he felt about her, his sister ratted him out. She smiled at him, and the rest was history. She never got a diamond ring, but she did not need it. She trusted, when the right time comes, they could afford a diamond ring.
Love crosses all barriers
"When adversity strikes, that's when you have to be the most calm. Take a step back, stay strong, stay grounded and press on." -LL Cool J
Couple 1:
When their business was facing the worst of times, they stuck together. They had to borrow money from their family, it was hard, they had fights every single day for 3 years. No matter how hard it got, he would still kiss her goodnight. It wasn't all bad, at the end of it, their families got back together, their family business sprung back stronger than ever. There was no hurdle they couldn't cross if they were together. Her diamond ring now shone brighter than ever.
Couple 2:Days turned into years, every day she got older the more in love he was with her, and every day their love grew older the safer she felt with him. Their relationship had their share of ups and downs, sometimes, there was no money for food, and sometimes they had roof over their head. There were good times as well, that can be seen with the diamond ring on both their fingers now. So, can you spot the difference between them yet?
